There are a whole lot of OPINIONS out there on what kids need, but they are just that, opinions.  The truth is that if we look at history, the opinions of man have gotten us into a whole heap of trouble!  When we put what we think on the same level as God’s Word we are heading for a big mess!  Here are 16 Things the Bible Says Kids Need.

Let’s take a look at what Scripture says in regard to children, what they need, and what our responsibilities are as parents.

16 Things the Bible Says Kids Need

1. Children need to be taught God’s word, His laws, and commandments.  They need to be taught the way to live and what duties they are to perform daily.  Exodus 18:20 and Deuteronomy 4:9

3. Children need to be taught and shown how to obey and keep God’s commands.  Psalm 78:4, Deuteronomy 4:40, Psalm 71:17-18, Ephesians 6:1 and Colossians 3:20

4. Children need to be taught and shown how to love God with their whole heart, mind, body, and strength. Deuteronomy 6:5-7, Deuteronomy 12:28, Deuteronomy 29:20

5. Children need to be brought to a Bible believing Church to learn how to worship God.  Deuteronomy 31:12-13, Matthew 19:13-14

6. Children need to be trained and practice good behavior.  Proverbs 22:6

7. Children need to be spanked when they disobey God’s rules.  Proverbs 22:15

8. Children need to be taught how to hope in God the Father.  Isaiah 40:30-31

9. Children need to be comforted and their spirits restored.  Lamentations 1:16

I am so very THANKFUL that God has told us what is expected of us as parents.  WHAT A RELIEF!  When we follow His commands we can be successful parents and raise children that are healthy spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

  1. My husband and I parent as a team. We also take the time to intentionally teach them what they need to know. Sometimes it seems hard to squeeze it all in but God’s word is the most important thing!
