This post, 3 Tips For Making July 4th Meaningful, came about because I am looking for a few ways to change up our Fourth of July celebration.  I am always searching for innovative ideas to allow our family to focus on the goodness of the Lord. I am especially interested in doing this with every holiday throughout the year.  We find happiness and joy when we let faith permeate our lives.

We all have family traditions!  Keep them up, you will be thankful you made the effort! You will rejoice when your children pass on those very same family traditions to their children.  This post is about adding to what you already have in place and making the Fourth of July even more fun and meaningful this year!

3 Tips For Making July 4th Meaningful

PRAYER     Saturate July 4th in prayer.  Start the day and end the day with prayers of thankfulness for our country, military, and elected officials, especially the ones you don’t politically agree with.  Make sure to pray at every meal and even before every event, delicious picnic, and parade, you attend.

SERVICE    How about bringing frozen popsicles (in a cooler) with scripture verses attached to the Fourth of July Parade in your neighborhood?  Pass them out to those walking in the parade or to people sitting around you! They will be thankful for the refreshing popsicle and be refreshed by the Word of God at the same time.  Another idea might be to do the same thing at a nursing home.  Make sure to ask who the veterans are so you and your family can say thank you to them.

HISTORY    Pick out 3 historical events that display to your family how the hand of God was active and working in the formation of our country.  For younger children, you may want to read picture books that tell of how our country was started.   Who doesn’t love a good book?  Click HERE for book suggestions.   How about reading the Constitution together?  Here is a FREE copy!
