Slow and gentle are two of my favorite words. Abandoning the practice of rushing 15 years ago was transformational to my Spiritual life and to my physical health. I am excited to share 9 EASY Ways To Practice Christ-Centered Slow Living Today.

There are many ways that people arrive at the point where they know the way they are living is unsustainable. My aha moment came after I got sick. Chronic illness has a way of stopping you in your tracks. My very first step towards Christ-Centered Slow Living was to commit to stop rushing. It was a simple habit that helped in my recovery from being busy.

9 EASY Ways To Practice Christ-Centered Slow Living Today

  1. Take two minutes before you read your Bible and pray, sit in silence, and prepare your heart to meet with God.
  2. Pause to listen to birds chirping outside your window. Thank Jesus for His creation.
  3. Gather your children and read a book together.
  4. Consider learning about fixed-hour prayer.
  5. Pour yourself a cup of coffee and head outside. Sit, walk, watch your children play, ponder, or pray.
  6. If a worry or annoyance pops into your brain, stop what you are doing and ask God to renew your mind with the truth of His Word.
  7. Embrace the beauty of the work God has called you to for this season of your life. Make time to enjoy and notice the details.
  8. Simplify or declutter one small corner of your home. Make this corner a place of beauty. Pause and enjoy…
  9. Slowing drink a glass of water, and thank God for the clean water you are drinking.

“Busyness does not mean you are a faithful or fruitful Christian. It only means you are busy, just like everyone else. And like everyone else, your joy, your heart and your soul are in danger.”
