I’ve been a stay-at-home mom and wife for almost 36 years now. C.S. Lewis brilliantly puts it: “The Homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only, and that is to support the ultimate career.”  Full-time, unpaid work, for there is beauty in work, can come with weariness and overwhelm from having only one income. I am excited to share 6 Ways to Save Money As a Stay-At-Home Mom!

A stay-at-home mom manages the household and focuses on parenting, not working outside the home. It’s mostly about homemaking and lovingly caring for ones children.  It is also about saving money any way you can to make ends meet in the budget.

6 Ways To Save Money As

A Stay At Home Mom

  1. Thrifting – This is my favorite way to save money because I absolutely love it.  Buy used at thrift stores, garage sales, and “Buy Nothing” groups will help you save big on furniture, home decor items, and clothing.
  2. The Pantry PrincipleCooking at home is a major money-saver, potentially cutting costs by $10,000 yearly. You will save even more when you purchase food staples when they go on sale. You can multiply your savings when using The Pantry Principle.
  3. Avoid Impulse Buys – This one can be admittedly hard, we are all human after all. The best way to avoid impulse buying is to shop online, use a list, and avoid tempting stores like Target. Research shows that this will save $30-40 per trip.
  4. Cash-Back Services – You can use Ebates, Honey, and Rakuten for online purchases. Some apps earn you cash back on purchases. purchases
  5. Quality Purchases –  As the quote goes, “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”. Buy timeless items, avoid trendy clothing, and calculate the cost per wear.  Save money by purchasing quality used or on sale.
  6. Clothes Buying Ban – Yep, this one really works and I have employed this tactic many times.  Pause for 3-12 months which will save on discretionary spending.  Its a great way to save money for a desired purchase.

And my God will supply every need of yours

according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
