Few things in life can rattle us like illness.  It causes us to come face to face with our mortality. Battling Autoimmune Disease Naturally will encourage and equip you for the fight.

I have battled Autoimmune Disease for most of my adult life.  Our immune system’s primary responsibility is to protect our body from infection and other forms of illness, sometimes this system turns on itself.  When this occurs, those of us with autoimmune diseases, the immune system begins attacking our healthy cells because it identifies them as foreign materials.  Exactly a year ago, I went through the worst flare-up I have ever had.  It basically, sent me to bed for 6 months.  Which I must add was most inconvenient!

So the journey began, doctor visits every two weeks, blood work, hospital tests, and still, they could only treat the symptoms with medications and not the root cause.  To hear that there is nothing to be done and that I have to live this way is EXTREMELY HARD!   Depression, despair, anger, loneliness, fear were all things I felt.  But deep within my soul hope began to bubble up.

I decided to go another way…

Let me tell you

how I am healing myself

of all 7 of my autoimmune diseases

and why I don’t regret

the choice I made.

Battling Autoimmune Disease Naturally

1. I daily ask God to heal my body from an Autoimmune Disease.  Prayer has brought me strength and peace in this journey toward health.  Prayer and Bible reading has brought a beautiful renewing of my mind.

2. I read these amazing books… Autoimmune  The Cause And  The Cure,  The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions Using Paleo Principles, and Danielle Walkers Cookbook Against All Grain!  I read,  I learned, and followed all the steps in these books with amazing results.  My suggestion is to implement one principle a week so you don’t feel overwhelmed.

3. I started using Essential Oils to treat and relieve symptoms.   I take this whole food, natural Vitamin,  as well as use Frankincense, Peppermint, DDR Prime, and Balance essential oils daily.

Check out my Daily Essential Oil Routine.

The battle is not over for me but for the first time I have HOPE!   As I look back over this year I am filled up to overflowing with thankfulness to my Heavenly Father who has held me in His arms and met my every need. I am so thankful that I feel great and rarely suffer any bad days!

I feel like shouting that from a mountaintop!  Thank you, Father, for showing me the way, For giving me the courage to act!   Thank You!

YOUR TURN…

Any autoimmune sufferers out there?  What are you doing that has helped you on your journey toward health?

  1. This is very interesting I have an under active thyroid and I have never considered treating it using alternative medication, it keeps rising and the amount of medication keeps increasing so if I could control this in other ways that would be very helpful.

    1. Thanks for you comment Sharon…I have an under active thyroid too 🙂 Diet is a really good option to consider and in conjunction with essential oils I have had good success. Also, consider trying a Paleo diet for thyroid.

  2. As someone with an autoimmune disease I will really need to read that book! My husband also has celiac disease which is actually an autoimmune disease , not an allergy like many people think. Thank you for this post!

    1. I highly recommend the book…it is a process! I also have celiac disease and you are right it is an autoimmune disease and not an allergy! There are beginning to be so many good resources out there for this growing disease! I am praying for a cure!

  3. Love your testimony. I’ve been fighting my autoimmune disease and RA symptoms for only a year and I cannot imagine the struggle for those who have suffered for so long.

I have recently stumbled upon naturopathic methods of coping with the symptoms such as glucose and sugar elimination, the use of Peppermint and Frankinsense Oils and next, I plan to resume my exercise as my symptoms subside.

I’ve also been working with my local health food store advisor on implementing supplements such as a Joint supplement containing Turmeric and other anti-inflammatory properties alongside Vitamin D, Magnesium, and an herbal blend called Transitions which has performed miracles for my menopausal symptoms which have seemed to aggravate the RA as well.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

    1. Hi Jane,
Thank you for your comment. I use everything you suggested with the exception of Transitions. It sounds like we have a lot in common! I appreciate the recommendation of Transitions and I will be trying it out!

  4. Very encouraging to me as I have a few autoimmune diseases. Thank you.

    1. I’m so glad you found the post encouraging!
