I am happy to share with you, a DIY Soil Type Test that will give you instantaneous results and the only supplies you need are commonplace items from your home.
Using a soil sample test in your garden will improve the growing dirt and save even more money by growing vegetables and flowers more abundantly! Using this DIY Soil Test in your home garden is easy!
Supplies
baking soda
canning jar
distilled water
1/4 measuring cup
soil sample
white vinegar
To Find Out If You Have Alkaline Soil
Take your garden spade and 1/4 measuring cup and dig a sample of the soil you want to test. Put the soil into the glass canning jar.
add distilled water until the jar is half full and stir.
add 1/4 cup white vinegar over the top of the soil.
Results
If you get bubbles your soil is either alkaline or acidic.
No bubble…you have neutral soil.
To Find Out If You Have Acidic Soil
Take your garden spade and 1/4 measuring cup and dig a sample of the soil you want to test. Put the soil into the glass canning jar.
add distilled water until the jar is half full and stir.
sprinkle baking soda over the top of the soil.
Results
If you get bubbles your soil is either alkaline or acidic.
No bubble…you have neutral soil.

What does it mean?
To neutralize alkaline soil add some sphagnum peat, elemental sulfur, aluminum sulfate, iron sulfate, and compost.
To neutralize acidic soil add limestone, wood ash, and compost.
