What does Philippians 1:21 mean? What does “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” mean?  Not just a pat answer that simplifies the verse into a list of right and wrong. Here is a FREE Printable of Philippians 1:21 to help.

Spurgeon is a marvelous wordsmith and has been an instrument in drawing me to the Lord many a time!  Listen to what he has to say about the topic.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Again I bid you remark on Paul’s devotion and self-forgetfulness. It seems to be a matter of no choice with him whether he serves God in life or glorifies him in death. The emblem of the American Baptist Missionary Union is an ox standing between a plow and an altar, with the motto, “Ready for either,”—Ready to spend and be spent in labor, or to be a sacrifice, whichever the Lord pleases.

Since we are all different people with different calls on our lives.  It appears to me the key is in the relationship we have with Christ.  Do we spend time with Him, or do we listen? Are we willing to listen and be poured out for Him who gave His life for us?
