Only the best family recipes make it onto the blog.  This recipe came from our church cookbook from about 20 years ago and it is still our family’s favorite dessert bread!  I always remember my friend Mari when I make this bread and that makes it even more special.  The recipe was originally gluten-filled so feel free to return it to its original form or keep it like it is for a healthier version.   You are going to love this recipe for Gluten-Free Almond Poppy Seed Bread!

Another reason I like to recipe so much is the almond flavor.  It reminds me of the Swedish cakes and desserts I grew up on.  This easy is easy to make so include the kids for an enjoyable activity.  It also is an amazing addition to afternoon tea! 

 

 

Gluten-Free Almond Poppy Seed Bread

 

Ingredients

3 cups gluten-free flour mix or paleo flour mix

2 1/2 cups sugar or maple sugar

3 TBS poppy seeds 

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. salt 

1 1/2 tsp. gluten-free almond extract 

1 1/2 tsp. gluten-free vanilla extract 

1 1/4 cup avocado oil 

1 1/2 cup almond milk 

3 eggs 

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Combine all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and beat at low speed until the batter is smooth. 
  3. Pour the batter into two greased loaf pans. 
  4. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  1. I have a question, does the flour mix use potato flour? (I’m allergic to potato sadly but it looks amazing!)

    1. You can substitute cassava flour for potato flour! Hope this helps!
