Well, it finally happened to me.
I have been hearing about bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics for years. However, I had no personal experience until now. After several rounds of different antibiotics, the results were always the same. I would temporarily get well and then once I got off the antibiotics I would get the same thing again. Slowly I was realizing this bacterial infection is drug-resistant.
I decided to dig in and do some research and found some good news!
There are many natural antibiotics that heal bacterial infections and there is more and more medical research to prove it!
Now don’t get me wrong. I am not against prescribed antibiotics. I have been thankful for them and believe that they save lives. I also believe in trying the least invasive healing practices with the least side effects. As a person who suffers from several autoimmune diseases, I have to be very careful about what I put in my body. If I choose to use prescribed antibiotics I know I will pay the price in other areas. I know it will take months to heal my intestines after use. I still sometimes choose prescription antibiotics. For example this time, I chose the prescribed antibiotic first because Christmas was fast approaching and I wanted to be well for family celebrations. The prescription antibiotics worked temporarily but my respiratory infection continued to come back because the bacteria were resistant to the antibiotics.
Now in hindsight, I probably should have listened to my own advice and started with the least invasive practices for healing! Managing your own health is a very good thing!
That said, I am excited to share with you these 8 Natural Antibiotics that have been thoroughly researched and have stood the test of time.
8 Powerful Natural Antibiotics
GARLIC Don’t you just love garlic? Not only does it taste amazing it is so good for you! It is not only antibacterial but also antifungal and even antiviral. Another benefit is that garlic aids the body in growing a healthy intestinal flora. For use as an antibiotic chop a large garlic clove in 1 TBS. Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and let it sit for at least half an hour. You can either eat it raw or place on toasted bread for “raw” garlic bread. Do this at least once a day or up to 3 times daily.
OREGANO ESSENTIAL OIL Now this is my very favorite! Oregano is a powerhouse for keeping one healthy. It has been used successfully for centuries. I have triumphantly employed oregano essential oil on multiple illnesses. Oregano essential oil is used in two ways. One internally and the other topically. If you are taking essential oils internally make sure you are using an essential oil that is not chemically extracted and PLEASE look at the label of your bottle before using. I like to put one drop of oregano oil on the center of the bottom of my feet (on the arches) and then put my socks on. *CAUTION You will smell like a pizza and oregano can irritate the skin so use a carrier oil like coconut oil when applying if you have sensitive skin.
CAYENNE PEPPER Has been used as an antibiotic for thousands of years. I like using cayenne pepper by putting the ground organic pepper in a vegetable capsule. It will make your body feel warm. This is a wonderful immune-boosting plant that is very helpful with respiratory issues. My body can only tolerate a capsule a day. I know some people who swear by three capsules a day. Start with a small dose and move up. Every person’s body is different.
GINGER Studies have shown that ginger is an effective antibiotic towards foodborne pathogens like salmonella, listeria, and Campylobacter. Ginger helps digestion and at the same time strengthens the immune system. I like to use ginger in tea form. Ginger tea is easy to make. Slice ginger and add boiling water and steep at least 10 minutes. To get a more powerful dose of ginger use ginger essential oil. The triple threat of natural antibiotics is to combine ginger, garlic, and cayenne pepper together to battle whatever ails you!
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT This gem is rarely heard of. We know all about olive oil and its many health benefits but not too many people have heard of Olive Leaf Extract. It is a wonderful natural antibiotic that has historic use with malaria and is helpful in reducing fever and strengthening the immune system. What is the key? Oleuropein is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Take as directed.
TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL (Melaleuca) is another oil that has been used in healing people for centuries and also has a ton of research to back up its claims. Tea Tree essential oil is fantastic for maintaining good health. Tea Tree oil is best known for its purifying qualities, which make it useful for cleansing the skin, home surfaces, and purifying the air. You can use this oil topically, aromatically, and internally.
RAW HONEY is healing. Did you know that? Raw honey is honey that has not been heated so it is chocked full of nutrition and as it has its antibacterial properties. I use raw honey for many health-related issues not the least of which is when I have a cut that has gotten infected. Put some raw honey on it and by the next day (at least in my body) the infection is gone and the cut on its way to complete healing. Raw honey is…
- A Good Source of Antioxidants.
- Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties.
- Heal Wounds.
- Filled with Phytonutrients.
- Help for Digestive Issues.
- Soothes a Sore Throat.
CINNAMON Is easy to use because most people have it on hand. Cinnamon is used to strengthening the body and was used in just about every prescription in ancient China. I like to use cinnamon in two ways. I like to put ground cinnamon in just about everything I bake and also in warm beverages! For an easy way to get the benefits of cinnamon without the mega dose needed when using grated cinnamon, I use cinnamon bark essential oil. One drop will do you. I like to put it in my tea or coffee. I also put one drop in a teaspoon of raw honey. Once again please read the label on your essential oil bottle.
Wishing each one of you good health!

I will have to try some of these.
I hope they will be helpful…they have been for me! Thanks for your comment!
These are awesome natural antibiotics. I use most of them. I especially love oil of oregano. I don’t use the essential oil in capsule form. Gaia is my favorite brand. I also use it when I feel like I am coming down with a cold. If I can get it early enough, I rarely get that cold. Thanks for sharing on Let’s Get Real.
I love oregano oil too Karen…actually have some on today! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
