How To Organize Your Linen Closet The Frugal And Beautiful Way is not as hard as you think!
Making my home more beautiful and functional is high on my list of priorities. Also, of extreme importance is using my creativity to reuse, recycle, and repurpose things I already have and turn them into something purposeful. I had a lot of fun organizing my linen closet, and all with a zero budget. I hope you will too!
Today, let’s talk about how to organize your linen closet in a frugal and beautiful way. The only items I needed for this project were paint, a wicker basket, metal baskets, and of course my towels and linens. I purchased nothing! The wicker basket and metal baskets were garbage picked, yep! I always have my eyes on the curb as I drive around town. Admittedly, I have embarrassed my kids numerous times but I have saved our family a ton of money. I find that the gently used items work great in my 1903 farmhouse!
Look at the wallpaper in my linen closet. After some research, I believe it is from the 1920s. All the closets were wallpapered in my home. How charming!
How To Organize Your Linen Closet
The Frugal And Beautiful Way
-
First, let’s be clear about what needs to be in a linen closet. I find that the first step is always to stop and think about how you need to use the storage space. I use my linen closet to store blankets, towels, pillows, toilet paper, and tissues. That is it.
-
Take everything out of the closet.
-
Simplify and group, like items. Blankets in one pile, towels in another, washcloths in another.
-
Neatly fold and replace the items back in the closet.
-
Finally, add some scent. Use essential oils in a hidden cotton ball or make your own linen spray using 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) witch hazel or vodka, 10 drops lavender essential oil, and 3 ounces (6 tablespoons) water.
Slow down and have fun folding and enjoy the process. Making things pretty and organized is a joy, a simple pleasure if you will. For me, any way I can save money while adding function and beauty to my home is a win-win!
