I have to admit, that I love organizing, I find it soothing to the soul.  In fact, putting things in their place and eliminating the unnecessary is a creative endeavor!   One of the areas that most women find overwhelming is coming up with healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals three times a day.  Simple Ways to Organize Meal Planning will reduce your overwhelm and bring you peace.

It’s a new day and I am excited to talk about how to organize your meal planning the simple and thrifty way.  Today, we will approach meal planning with three core values.

Nutrition

Efficiency

Reduce Spending

Let’s start with Nutrition.  Make it a rule to only purchase and eat things that are good for your body.  If you live by this core value you will save a ton of money on medical care and on your grocery budget.

Efficiency is made simple by planning meals on The Peaceful Haven’s FREE Weekly Meal Planner.  Picking recipes based on what you have on hand in your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer. Then double your recipes and put the extra meal in the freezer for use on busy days.

Praying before you shop will Reduce Spending like nothing else.  Employ the wisdom God has given you in His Word by shopping sales, using coupons, Amazon Prime, wholesale clubs, discount stores, and gardening.

TODAY’S DAILY TASK

Simple Ways To Organize Meal Planning

  • Start by printing off your FREE Meal Planner.
  • Take a look at what food you have in your freezer, garden, refrigerator, and pantry.  Jot down on paper what food needs to be used pronto and what ingredients you have on hand.  (Now, is a great time to make your grocery list too.)
  • Pick your recipes for the week that include these ingredients.  For example, let’s say you have celery, part of a rotisserie chicken, and parsnips in your refrigerator.  Find a recipe for crockpot chicken soup if you don’t have all the ingredients substituted. Then schedule chicken soup as one of your evening meals.  Add some drop biscuits and a dessert and you are done with planning one meal.  Now go on and plan the rest of your meals for the week.
  • One of the ways I save money on meal planning is to double my dinner recipes and eat one dinner the day it is made and put the other one in the freezer for a busy day when I do not have time to cook.  Going out to dinner would cost a fortune.  Pulling a meal from the freezer is quick and easy and will save your family a bunch of money over time.
  • Leftovers from the dinner meal (if there is any) are put away in small glass containers, and stored in the freezer for my husband’s lunch at work.
