Whether you like to organize or not, we are often guilty of skipping over the most important area of our lives when contemplating organization.   The spiritual life of a Christian is of critical importance, for all of life flows from this one area. Today, we will organize your spiritual life which is the core of all other aspects of a Christ-followers existence.

I have divided our Spiritual Life into four basic areas.   Take a moment to grab a piece of paper.  Pray and seek God’s wisdom, then write down how you think you doing in these areas.  Enter into this activity with grace.

Quiet Time

She is spending time with God in prayer, listening, meditating on, and reading His Word the Bible.

Service

Serving is doing.  Serving your local church or the church universal is putting your faith into action.  Prayerfully consider participating in the prayer chain, teaching Sunday School, making meals for new moms or people who are ill, cleaning, Missions Committee, office volunteer, etc. Take your time on this one, don’t rush into something just to check “service” off your list. Instead, ask God to show and direct you to an area he has called you to.

Discipleship

Leading others to faith in Jesus. Teaching someone how to live a worshipful life that is dedicated to learning and growing through the power of Jesus. Knowing and meditating on God’s Word.  If you are a Mom, you are doing this already.  If your children are grown or you are single, seek out a younger woman to help along the way.

Worship

Put simply, worship is declaring the greatness of God. It is the act of giving up your own glory to make sure everyone knows that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are awesome. True worship, is defined by the priority we place on who God is and where God is on our list of priorities. True worship is a matter of the heart expressed through our lifestyle.

In this BUSY world, we live in, this is not a challenge to do more.  Prayerfully ask God to show you if any action is needed. Please don’t overcommit!  If you find yourself overcommitted then prayerfully ask God to help you say no to those things that may be good but that you are not called to participate in at this time.

I have my quiet time in different places, in and outside of my home.  Wherever I can find a quiet spot.  My favorite place is on the front porch in warmer weather. The Quiet Time Basket has allowed me to be portable and organized.  I love not having to run around looking for what I need.  It has saved me time and energy which is a very good thing in the morning before I have had my cup of coffee!
