I just love to decorate for the holidays. It doesn’t matter what holiday it is, I have so much fun coming up with creative solutions to beautify my home. It seems to be the simple things that I find or have laying around, and that don’t cost any money that makes for a unique and lovely tablescape. “Making Do” is my mantra! I am excited to share our Simple DIY Thanksgiving Table Decor with you!
This homemade tablescape cost me only the price of the flowers! Everything else I had on hand. Did I mention that I also love to be thrifty?
Simple DIY Thanksgiving Table Decor
Supplies
Natural color painters drop cloth
White linen napkins (I got mine at the thrift store.)
Plaid wool throw (I got mine at the thrift store.)
Place settings (I got mine at the thrift store.) and silverware
Water glasses
Beeswax candles, make your own HERE!
Antique brown transferware (I got mine at the thrift store.)
Nuts, gourds, and mini pumpkins
Fresh bouquet of flowers
Small box
Brown wrapping paper or burlap
Brown paper grocery bag
DIRECTIONS
- Print your FREE napkin holder printable on a brown paper bag, Trace a regular size printer paper onto the paper bag. Cut it out and put the paper bag into the paper tray of your printer and print. (For some printers you may need to adjust the kind of paper.)
- Make your floral centerpiece using a bouquet from the store or fresh from your garden. Fill two glass canning jars with water and arrange the flowers in them. Wrap a cardboard box with brown wrapping paper, a paper bag, or burlap. Tape in place. Next, set your two canning glasses into the covered box.
- Gather all the supplies and bring them to your kitchen or dining room.
- Start with the painter’s drop cloth for the tablecloth, smoothing it out. Then add the plaid wool blanket and center it on the table.
- Place the flower arrangement in the center of the table.
- Lay the place settings and glassware.
- Add the piece of brown transferware to the right angle of the flower arrangement. On the opposite corner place the beeswax candle.
- Arrange the nuts, acorns, pumpkins, or squash around the centerpiece.

I love your table so much! I’m thrifty, too, and will be setting a table on a budget with things from thrift stores that I have on hand, the dollar tree and flowers from my yard. Love your plates.
Thank you so much, Johanna! We have a lot in common!
