I LOVE to read and I love writing Simple Short Christian Book Reviews!
There is really no other activity that can transport you to new locations and at the same time learn new things about people, topics, and emotions as much as reading a good book! It does not really matter if it is fiction or a biography, self-improvement, or knowledge-based. You are always going to learn something. You are always going to be improving one’s mind! These are just a few of the reasons that I never let a day go by with reading something!
I have the ability to read fast. I think it is because I have had so much practice 🙂 That ability allows me to read through and evaluate a heavy reading load each month and then pass on what I think is worthwhile to you. It is always my intention to give you options that are well written and will cause you to think creatively! I hope to give you books that will encourage you in your role as wife and mother as well as your most important role as a follower of Christ.
A book that makes The Peaceful Haven Recommended Reading List for the month does not mean that I agree with everything in the book. Rather, I recommend it because it has moved me in some way and I feel it will be an encouragement to my intelligent readers!
Simple Short Christian Book Reviews
FICTION
Fast-paced! I could not put this book down and in the process, I learned so much about the Middle East! I read it with one hand on the world map…so I refreshed my geography skills which was an added benefit. The Third Target caused me to commit many things to prayer in terms of world events. If a book causes you to pray more then I say it is a win/win. Enjoy!
GARDENING
I am investigating adding perennial vegetables to my garden. I have the basics like asparagus, strawberries, and chives but I would like to add more and so began my research. I must have read ten books on the subject but I felt this was the best at explaining each vegetable in detail as well as what zones they were appropriate for. I have picked out 5 new vegetables to grow this year!

INTERIOR DESIGN
I am an interior dec addict…so every month I try to find MORE books to give me MORE ideas. At Home With Country is my favorite pick! Every picture is steeped in old fashioned charm. The Cabbage and Roses style complement my “farmhouse” style and I was able to but a few ideas into practice at the 1903 farmhouse that I call home. All the home dec changes that I made were FREE! Now, what do you think about that!?!

I really, really LOVED this book. The projects are simple enough for all ages and beautiful enough to entice the most experienced of sewers. Great projects to do with your children and in the process beautify your home.

HOME MANAGEMENT
This is a must-read for every woman who is managing a home, husband, and children. It would be a very beneficial read for any person, no matter what stage one is in, as a “how-to” manual for organizing one’s life effectively. I picked up a few tricks in this very helpful book.

SPIRITUAL
It is no secret that I struggle with anxiety. There is only one word for this utterly charming book series written by L. M. Montgomery. PERFECT! It is perfect for every age and gender and all who read it will adore it! A wonderful family read-a-loud too!

If you are looking for the absolute best reviews for the many curriculum choices, then this is the book for you! Well written would be an understatement. I really love to read too, and I also have the ability to read fast! I agree it comes with lots of practice! Anne of Green Gables was one of my absolute favorite book series growing up! I really enjoyed the movies with Megan Follows! Right now I am reading Undaunted by Christine Caine and its riveting! 🙂
