It is no secret that I LOVE to read and can make it through quite a few books a month. I never really thought about sharing what I read but enough people have encouraged me that I have made it a regular part of The Peaceful Haven! I give you this month’s Christian Book Reviews and you can read my other Simple Short Book Reviews HERE.
So without further ado, I present What I Read This Month!
Simple Short Christian Book Reviews
FICTION
I found Tricia Goyer just a little over a year ago and fell in love with all of her books! She is inspiring and she is a good writer, a winning combination. I am especially taken with the time period of World War II. I have read many, many books about this era and The Liberator Series has made my Top 5 List of all-time favorite WWII books. These detailed books allow you to glimpse into the character’s hearts and transport you into the pages of the book. A must for me…they are historically accurate. Historical Fiction at it’s BEST!

INTERIOR DESIGN
I first found this creative woman on her blog Miss Mustard Seed. It is rare to find someone with your exact same taste in furnishings but I have found her to be a kindred spirit in that area. The thing I appreciate most about Inspired You, besides the gorgeous photographs, is that Marian preaches contentment and creativity. I appreciate her focus on God’s provision!

HOMEMAKING
I am always looking at ways to save money! This book taught me a few things and that was a great encouragement to me! This book includes everything from how to make your own non-toxic paint to How to make your own Heat Saving Curtains. Great Illustrations make every topic and project easy to understand. Clean, Green, and Homey!
The Country Almanac of Housekeeping Techniques That Save You Money by Richard Freudenberger
FINANCIAL
This is an excellent book, it is really that simple. My daughter had to read this for one of her classes at Moody Bible Institute and I asked her if I could read it when she was done. If you are at all interested in Missions and Poverty then this is a great book for you to read! Also, if you just want to look at the field of Economics from a Biblical Worldview then read on…
Money, Greed, and God…Why Capitalism is the Solution and Not the Problem by Jay W. Richards
HEALTH
This book was helpful to me in a few ways. First, it gave corroborating evidence in the form of medical research about natural healing that I had read about in other books like Autoimmune: The Cause and The Cure . It gave me new ideas on how to implement “the dreaded exercise” into my life and also taught me more about fermenting food! All things I have been researching for years now. This book is an easy read and will help you understand the reason why things like “what we eat” matter.
Effortless Healing by Dr. Joseph Mercola
CHILDREN
This is an absolutely LOVELY picture book! Alice made a promise to make the world a more beautiful place, she decides to do something spectacular! This is a beloved classic that will capture any child’s heart! Miss Rumphius is written by Barbara Cooney who is a Caldecott winner!

SEWING
A thoroughly charming book with many, many projects for your home…101 to be exact! All the projects are well explained with effective directions that a beginner could understand. This would make a great book of projects that mothers and daughters could do together. I have already started a few.
HOMESCHOOL
Are you looking for a book that will encourage you in your homeschool journey? Karen’s excellent book will do just that. I found this book refreshing and faith-building! To say it is well worth your time to read it would be an understatement. This book will teach you how to find joy in your everyday journey. Enjoy!
