It’s been snowing like crazy here in Ohio for the past few days.  My family has been doing a whole lot of shoveling which includes the long driveway, the sidewalk, the front, and back doorsteps, and walkways.   We love the snow but all that snow can be tiring and hard work.  I decided to do some research and here is what I found, Snow Shoveling Made Easier!

Safety is a big concern when shoveling snow so BE CAREFUL and take a moment to think about a few things before you start like ice under the snow, your own physical fitness, and outdoor temperature!

Snow Shoveling Made Easier

  • Stretch your body before tackling this project and take lots of breaks.
  • Have a playful attitude and throw a few snowballs while you are shoveling the snow!
  • Shovel with other family members, “Many hands make light work”.
  • Put a coat of floor wax on your snow shovel.  It will prevent the shovel from rusting and the snow will easily glide on and off.
  • Rotate turns shoveling the snow between members of the family.
  • Don’t let the snow pile up.  Shovel once an hour to keep up with the accumulation.
  • Spray your snow shovel with nonstick cooking spray to reduce friction.  Let the spray oil dry before shoveling.
  • Push the snow, don’t lift it.
  • Use a safe snow shovel and proper winter boots and coat.
  • Bless someone and pay them to shovel your snow.

When you are done, make yourself and your family some warm and wonderful hot chocolate!
