I am delighted to share 5 Summer Fun Kids Crafts and Literature! Your kids are going to love these fun and educational crafts and you are too. All of these crafts utilize things you already have around the house and should cost you pennies!
Keeping kid busy with meaningful activities can be challenging, especially in the Summer months. Providing opportunities to learn throughout the Summer is equally important for your child’s development. With that in mind, I have also added books to read to your children before you begin the art project to add more learning opportunities for your kids!
Summer Fun Kids Crafts And Literature
Squirt Gun Art by Fireflys and Mudpies
Read Action Jackson
This would be a great time to talk about the word beauty and different types of art. What is your definition of art and do you think what Jackson Pollock did would be classified as Art? What does the Bible say about Art?
Pop Botte Firefly by One Little Project
Read The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle.
This book is another example of art and education and added bonus is this is a beginning reading book so depending on your child’s age they can read it themselves or read it aloud to younger siblings.
Simple Color Scavenger Hunt by I Heart Crafty Things
Read A Color of His Own
Picture books are not just for young children. Have older children lead this activity by reading the book to younger siblings or have older children retell the story in their own words. I actually do this with high school students when teaching about inferences. Everyone loves a scavenger hunt no matter what age your kids are!
Q-Tip Daisy Craft by The Pinterested Parent
I recommend reading this book yourself so you can add another layer of learning to this art activity. Pick a garden project from Gardening Lab for Kids and do it with your kids as well as complete this art project. Maybe you want to plant daisies?
Coffee Filter Rainbow Fish by Crafty Morning
Read The Rainbow Fish
When my kids were little they loved anything by Martin Phister, the stories were good and they loved the sparkle figures in the books. Add another real life activity and visit an aquarium this Summer.
