I am thankful that so many of God’s children are becoming interested in Christ-Centered Slow Living.  It’s lovely to be a part of God’s plan of continual redemption.  A revival and a backlash that is calling the wearied, burdened, and overwhelmed people living at this moment in time.  It is counter-cultural for sure and a healing balm to a weary world.  Amid all the interest, I want to clarify What Christ-Centered Slow Living Is NOT.

Simply put Christ-centered slow living makes room for Jesus in every area of your life.  It removes things that no longer serve you and replaces them with space to worship our Father in heaven—making room for more love.  It is a process…it is for everyone.

What Christ-Centered Slow Living Is NOT

  • NOT being lazy
  • NOT pursuing mediocrity
  • NOT always being idle

  • NOT people pleasing
  • NOT participating in cultural Christianity
  • NOT self-centered

  • NOT just for certain personality types
  • NOT just for retired people
  • NOT just for “super spiritual” people

  • NOT perfect
  • NOT systematic
  • NOT always easy

My journey toward Christ-Centered Slow Living started with just one decision. I had been diagnosed with my seventh autoimmune disease which included being passed from one doctor to another, 16 in total.   I knew I needed to do something so I decided I would no longer rush. (I have no idea how I came up with this?)  Slowing down would give me time to pray, think, and ponder.  It soon became clear that God was directing my paths.   I needed to change quite a few things, Jesus is not in a hurry and is patient while we learn.  His power is made perfect in weakness.

Acknowledging my weakness has turned into a miraculously beautiful relationship with my Savior.  Pausing to listen to God’s Word and choosing to fact-check every thought, opinion, author, and news report against the truth of the Bible has made all the difference between peace and anxiety.  The freedom and joy that is found in Christ-centered slow living are because it is Spirit-led and does not depend on your abilities or personality.
